From Modern Painters, Volume I: Of Ideas of Power as dependent on execution

This is from John Ruskin's famous work, oft-quoted in his lifetime. He was a celebrity in his own right, popularising art to the public and championer of the Pre-Raphaelites. No one in our time has the stature he had in his time. The reason I am taking Power from his book is because it is what characterised the Romantic ambition. I shall let him speak for himself here.
